SMS & WhatsApp
Targeted by class, section or defaulter status, from DLT-approved templates.
- Target a class, a section or every defaulter — not the whole school by default
- DLT-approved templates for the messages sent every week
- WhatsApp once your number is connected, on the same targeting
Messages that reach parents on the number the school already holds — no app to install, no assumption that every family has a smartphone. SMS through DLT-registered templates, WhatsApp once your business number is connected.
DLT, because otherwise it is filtered
In India a transactional SMS has to be sent against a template registered on the DLT platform, or the operator drops it. Templates are registered and sent against, which is the difference between a message delivered and a message that silently disappears.
More than one provider
Several SMS gateways are supported and ordered by priority, so a provider having a bad morning does not become the school's bad morning. The school brings its own gateway account and its own sender ID.
WhatsApp on the school's own number
WhatsApp connects through the official Business API against a number the school owns, with approved templates. Parents reply to a number they recognise rather than an anonymous short code.
What schools ask about sms & whatsapp
Do parents need to install anything?
No. SMS and WhatsApp arrive on the phone they already use. A parent app exists for schools that want one, but nothing depends on it.
Who pays for the messages?
Each band includes an allowance of SMS and email per student per month. Beyond that the school's own gateway account is used, so the rate is the one the school negotiated.
How long does DLT registration take?
That depends on the operator, not on Edmingo — it is usually a few working days. Templates can be prepared while registration is in progress.
Claim your school's address
Pick a name, add your classes, invite your staff. The first year is free and members can pay from day one.
